![]() ![]() The prickly relationship between Rory and Camilla, her mother, makes for tense conversations. There has been no news for months, and Rory is struggling to move forward in her life. ![]() Rory’s fiancé, Hux, is working overseas for Doctors Without Borders when he is abducted. ![]() In May of 1985, Rory stumbles upon the gutted dress shop owned by Soline and leases the building. She was highly successful until a catastrophic fire at the shop in the early '80s upended her life. After the trauma of losing her baby shortly after birth, destitute Soline found a job as a dressmaker in the city of Boston. Upon notification that Anson was most likely dead, Anson’s father cut off all ties with Soline, even though she was pregnant with Anson’s baby. When it became too dangerous for Soline, Anson arranged for her escape to his family’s residence in Newport, Massachusetts. Both Anson and Soline were part of an escape network. In March of 1943, Soline volunteered at a hospital in Paris, France, where she met and fell in love with Anson, an American Field Service ambulance driver. The epilogue takes place in May of 1986 and is a perfect ending to the story. The prologue, set in September of 1976, is an excellent introductory scene. Soline’s story of her experiences in the early 1940s is woven into the part of the story that takes place in 1985. ![]() The Keeper of Happy Endings by Barbara Davis focuses on Soline Roussel and Aurora “Rory” Grant, whose lives unexpectedly collide in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1985. ![]()

![]() ![]() I’ve read a lot of great books this year, but usually the ones I end up enjoying the most are a little beefier and heavier on the fantasy aspect, which this one is not. ![]() ![]() I read the whole thing in 24 hours, without even trying that hard. I just finished slogging my way through an absolute beast of a Sci-Fi for book club (see my review of Red Rising), and I’m really trying hard to get back into my reading habit, and Unravel the Dusk made it easy. Like its predecessor, this book came at just the right time. But how long can she run from an enemy that seeks to destroy her from within? Maia must find a way to stop darkness from ripping apart her beloved land, all while fighting against the darkness rising within herself. But when things don’t go exactly as planned, Maia is forced to flee, on the run from the emperor as well as the shensen. This wedding will preserve the delicate peace in the land after the war between the shensen and the emperor. ![]() Now, alone at the palace, Maia waits for the shensen’s daughter, Lady Sarnai, to wed the emperor. But in order to save her true love, Edan, from becoming the demon guardian of Lapzur, Maia has made a bargain with a demon and with the moon goddess herself that she will take his place so long as Edan is free. Maia Tamarin has already proven herself to be the greatest master tailor in all of A’landi. I’ll be back soon with fresh, spoiler free reviews. If you haven’t read the Spin the Dawn and plan to, I recommend skipping this review entirely. NOTE: This review will have spoilers from here on out. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() While the AWS CLI works perfectly well with Backblaze B2, and we explain how to use it in our B2 Developer Quick-Start Guide, it’s slightly clunky. ![]() In most cases, we recommend using the S3-compatible API, since a rich ecosystem of S3 tools and knowledge has evolved over the years. AWSĪs you almost certainly already know, Backblaze B2 has an S3-compatible API in addition to its original API, now known as the B2 Native API. Let’s take a look at the highlights in the new releases, and why you might want to use the Backblaze B2 CLI rather than the AWS equivalent. We recently released version 3.7.0 (and then, shortly thereafter, version 3.7.1) of the Backblaze B2 Command Line Tool, alongside version 1.19.0 of the underlying Backblaze B2 Python SDK. ![]() A CLI typically provides finer control over operations than a GUI tool, and makes it straightforward to automate repetitive tasks. This is where a command line interface (CLI) shines. Some tasks, however, require a little more power and flexibility than a GUI can provide. File transfer tools such as Cyberduck, FileZilla Pro, and Transmit implement a graphical user interface (GUI), which allows users to manage and transfer files across local storage and any number of services, including cloud object stores such as Backblaze B2 Cloud Storage. ![]() |
